Monkfield Reptile has introduced EvoRx, a new frozen reptile food product described as the first of its kind in the UK.
The sausage-shaped product, developed by Arcadia, is designed as an alternative to frozen rodents for snakes and omnivorous reptiles.
Monkfield said the format could help attract new keepers who may be reluctant to store or feed rodents.
Trials have shown high acceptance rates among reptiles, according to the company. The food has been formulated to support muscle growth, bone health and digestion, while portion control is intended to reduce obesity risks in reptiles.
EvoRx will be available in six portion sizes reflecting commonly fed rodent weights. Each batch is tested for pathogens and bacteria.
The product is suitable for colubrids, hognose snakes, many boa species, carpet and blood pythons, and some omnivorous reptiles. It is not recommended for royal pythons.
Jo Wise, managing director of Monkfield Reptile, said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce a UK first that will strengthen the core of reptile keeping and help to expand the market to people who wouldn’t have considered keeping it before.”
