VetPartners has opened a new £1.7m veterinary clinic in Caerphilly, South Wales, as part of its commitment to expanding services and improving the standard of care for pets in the region.

Caerphilly Veterinary Clinic has welcomed its first patients at a new site in Castle View Shopping Centre, converted from a former supermarket into a purpose-built facility.

The clinic will complement the practice’s existing site in Market Street, which will remain open as a branch surgery.

Caerphilly Vets has served the local community for nearly 40 years and stated that “rising demand for care has outgrown its current premises”.

The new clinic includes a reception with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, six consultation rooms, including a cat-only consult room, and two operating theatres.

Other facilities include a dental suite with dental X-ray machine, an on-site laboratory, separate kennels for dogs and cats, an outdoor exercise area and on-site parking

Additional space will allow the practice to introduce new services such as orthopaedic and specialist surgeries, pain management clinics, physiotherapy and behaviour training.

The investment has been funded by VetPartners, a veterinary group led by members of the profession, of which Caerphilly Vets is a part.

Sarah Light, practice manager, said: “Our new clinic is going to transform what we can do. We pride ourselves on offering outstanding care for our patients and we’ve opened the new clinic because we want to help more pets and introduce new services as we are already at full capacity in Market Street.

“The additional space will enable us to offer a range of different services, such as pet confidence clinics and specialist surgeries, that will benefit pets and we can offer more appointments so we help more patients.”

She added: “We’ve spent the last seven months making the space our own and everything has been carefully designed to ensure that visiting the vets is as stress-free as possible for both pets and their owners. Clients can also be assured that our team remains the same, and they will continue to see the vets, nurses and receptionists that they know and trust.

“The new practice is in a very accessible location, and one of the biggest benefits is that we can offer on-site parking. If clients prefer, they can still come to see us in the town centre at Market Street and we’ll be offering the same appointments there as we always have.”
