Irish nutrition brand Blue Pet Co has unveiled a range of supplements for dogs made from seaweed.

The company, based in County Kerry, uses zero-carbon biotechnology methods to produce the supplements from hand harvested seaweed found on the west coast of Ireland.

The supplement range targets a number of key health areas, including joints, muscles, skin, hair, teeth and gums.

The company states that the supplements are made from one of “only a handful” of bioprocessing processes in the world and the “only one of its kind” in Europe.

Gary Daly, CEO at Blue Pet Co, said: “Pet owners today face a perfect storm of challenges; rising environmental concerns, vet bills at their highest for a decade, and an increasingly diverse breed pool that means many of our beloved pets are unintentionally missing out on the nutrients they need to fend off health issues.”
“Being dog lovers ourselves, we wanted to create a range of functional dog supplements that
would make it easier for owners to address their pet’s specific nutritional needs and to do so
more sustainably.”

He added:“Seaweed is not only a superfood which promotes gut, bone and skin health and immunity in both humans and dogs, it’s fast-growing, regenerates easily and can be sourced from right on our shores. It’s a win-win for our pets, and the planet.”
