The managing director of a pet food superstore in Hampshire has been named as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in a local awards show, the South Coast Business Awards.

Deborah Burrows, who owns Healthy Pet Store in Totton, was given the accolade following  her reported “dedication and passion” to transform the six-year-old pet food and accessory shop into a “leading retailer” in the south of England

Healthy Pet Store, which specialises in frozen meals for cats and dogs, is reportedly the biggest of its kind in the country by square footage.

Burrows moved Healthy Pet Store to a bigger outlet space at the height of the pandemic in June 2020. The business now operates from a site which now holds 30 chest freezers of meats, dairy produce, fruits, vegetables and more.

She said: “I am delighted to receive this award. However, it’s not just for me. It is for everyone who works at, been a customer of, or has been associated with the store.

“Everyone has played a massive part in creating the incredible success of Healthy Pet Store and this award is for all of them too.”
