Dog-friendly holiday company PetsPyjamas has appointed James Williams as managing director (MD) with immediate effect.

Williams joins from his former role as head of commercial at Culture Trip and part of the start-up team at Voyage Privé UK.

The brand said Williams is an “exciting hire” as the company embarks on an ambitious growth plan driven by the boom in the UK dog population, which has grown from 10 million to 13.5 million since March 2020.

Karen Hanton MBE, PetsPyjamas co-founder and CEO, said: “PetsPyjamas has seen unprecedented growth in demand for dog-friendly getaways and we are delighted to have James on board to help us capitalise on this opportunity.

“James will bring huge value, adding over 20 years’ travel experience as well as his vision and drive to propel the business forward.”

Williams added: “I am thrilled to be joining PetsPyjamas when the pet sector is becoming increasingly front and centre stage. As a dog owner myself, I can see the dog-friendly travel market is set for rapid expansion, and I look forward to navigating PetsPyjamas as we enter an exceptionally high growth and significant scale-up phase to capitalise on the lucrative hound pound.”
