Natural dog food company wins Dragon’s Den investment

Glasgow-based Opie’s Emporium received an offer of £55,000 for a 35% stake in the company from businessman Tuker Suleyman

A natural dog treat company has won a significant investment offer while appearing on the hit BBC television show, Dragon’s Den.

Opie’s Emporium, a pet food company based in Glasgow, received an offer of £55,000 for a 35% stake in the company from businessman Tuker Suleyman while appearing on the show last week.

The Scottish pet manufacturer specialises in creating 100% natural, air-dried treats, using British ingredients.

Dom Hogan, who has one pug and five French bulldogs, started the business in 2018 due to her passion for healthy pet food snacks.

She appeared on Dragon’s Den alongside her dog, Opie, and managed to convince Suleyman to invest in her company, which has generated £80,000 in turnover the past year.

Speaking to the dragons, Hogan said: “I wasn’t planning on actually starting a business. I wasn’t planning on actually starting a business.”
