Bought By Many raises over £16k for charity

The step-based challenge was initiated during the third lockdown on 15 January 2021 and ran until the 14th of February

Bought By Many, a pet insurance provider, has announced it has raised a total of £16,875 for charity as part of its ‘Step Into 2021’ challenge.

The step-based challenge was initiated during the third lockdown on 15 January 2021 and ran until the 14th of February, encouraging the group’s team members, customers, families and friends to walk as many steps as possible while raising money for charity.

In total, the insurer’s customers and employees walked 7,916,636 steps in one month and donated a total of £16,875, including a matched contribution from the group to charity.

The pet insurance provider chose StreetVet, a charity which offers free accessible vet care to pets belonging to those experiencing homelessness around the UK, and Mind, the mental health charity.

Steven Mendel, CEO and co-founder of Bought By Many, said: “We launched the challenge to help our team and our customers feel connected during a difficult time of year and wanted to create a challenge that kept people motivated to safely enjoy time outdoors while raising money for two important charities.

Jade Statt, co-Founder and clinical director at Street Vet, added: “The pandemic has highlighted that when faced with unprecedented isolation, we find great comfort in our pets, and for many people, their pet is their lifeline.

“Recognition and protection of that profound bond between an owner experiencing homelessness and their pet is one of StreetVet’s key messages.”
