Di Girolamo is an associate professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University.

Di Girolamo worked in private practice as a veterinary specialist first in Rome and Hong Kong before moving to the United States.

His published research includes meta-epidemiological studies in veterinary and human medicine, as well as clinical topics in exotic animal medicine.

Di Girolamo said: “I am very excited to take on the role of Editor of JSAP. As a clinician working towards evidence-based practice, I have always read JSAP with great interest since it publishes clinical research that has made an impact in daily practice.

“As editor I intend to continue to ensure that articles are reviewed comprehensively but in a timely manner. The natural next step for JSAP will be to encourage submissions of systematic reviews, a tool that is now employed by all major medical journals to transparently summarise previous studies.”

JSAP is the journal of the BSAVA as well as the official scientific journal of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA). The journal covers veterinary medicine and surgery relating to dogs, cats and other companion animals.
