Edinburgh Dog and Cat home awarded ‘Best Newcomer’ at Living Wage Scotland’s Awards

Edinburgh Dog and Cat home has been awarded the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at this year’s Living Wage Scotland Awards.

Earlier this year the home became the first animal welfare organisation in Scotland to be accredited as a Living Wage employer.

The judges of the award ceremony commented on Edinburgh Dog and Cat home and said their commitment to the real Living Wage saw more than half of their staff receive an “uplift to the real Living Wage” showing real leadership to ensure their staff receive a fair day for an often “emotionally and physically challenging days work.”

Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine, deputy to the CEO and director of operations said: “The immense pride that the whole organisation feels about this award is indescribable.

“A huge amount of work was put into making our Real Living Wage status possible, and to be recognised as Newcomer of the Year 2019 is an enormous validation of what we do and what we stand for.”
