Rising demand for window bird feeders, says Meripac

Manufacturer of wild bird care products, Meripac, predicts growing demand for window bird feeders. Interest is expected to increase with the greater percentage of flats being built.

Meripac suggests that placing bird food in a prominent position will increase the likelihood of attracting birds. Meripac’s Bertram Mindell said: “The most visible place is with the bird food hanging from the outer edge of the feeder. This also gives birds all-round access and is safely away from the window.

“The problem with this location is the downward weight on the edge of the seed tray with resultant unacceptable stress.”

Meripac has dealt with this issue by extending the back of the feeder below the seed tray. The company has added a third shock-absorbing sucker, connecting that area with rigid struts to the base of the seed tray.

Meripac now offers four window bird feeders each of which includes these features. A removable divider ensures two types of seed can be put in the seed tray offering a variety of colour and appeal.
