Omni Pet has appointed canine behaviourist Nico Joiner to lead its behaviour consultation service as the firm expands support for owners of anxious or reactive dogs.

Joiner, who brings 18 years of experience in dog welfare and rehabilitation, will provide free one-to-one guidance for issues including separation anxiety, noise reactivity, travel stress and fear of fireworks.

He studied animal welfare, behaviour and rehabilitation at the University of Bristol. Before joining Omni, he spent nearly two decades with the UK’s largest dog rehoming charity, where he developed welfare initiatives, mentored nationwide teams and delivered workshops in countries including Singapore, France, Portugal, Malta, Lithuania, Croatia and Cyprus.

His role comes as demand for Omni’s stress and anxiety soft chews has grown, with the company reporting a rise of more than 600% in recent sales.

Omni, which is backed by television programme Dragon’s Den, said pairing its vet-formulated calming supplements with tailored behavioural advice would offer a more rounded approach to canine mental health.

The firm said the combined service was intended to help dogs feel calmer and to give owners greater confidence in managing challenging behaviour.

Joiner said: “Omni are genuinely committed to supporting our dogs overall wellbeing and I feel that’s a complete package now I’m joining the team. Combining evidence-based behaviour support along with practical, easily applicable training tools, I’m confident in being able to make a positive impact on the day to day lives of dogs and their champions. The key for me is developing a partnership with an owner and focussing on the wellbeing of both dog and owner to come to a solution together.”
