Monkfield Reptile has acquired Zoological International, the tortoise breeding business founded by reptile specialist Rick Wilton.
Wilton, who has bred and cared for tortoises for more than 40 years, is widely known in the reptile-keeping industry for his expertise and focus on animal welfare.
Zoological International has been recognised for its breeding practices and for supplying some of the “most sought-after” tortoise species.
According to Monkfield, the acquisition would allow it to provide a consistent supply of healthy tortoises to the trade, supported by Zoological International’s established global network. Details of ordering and availability will be shared in the coming weeks.
Jo Wise, managing director at Monkfield Reptile, said: “The reputation and expertise that Rick and his team have built are second to none. This acquisition is about preserving a legacy of quality and ensuring that the trade has access to healthy, high-quality sourced tortoises for years to come.”
