Peake Petcare is set to launch its Soothing Ear Cleaner at PATS, UK’s pet trade show, held at the NEC Birmingham from 28–30 September.

The Worsley-based company said demand for the product has increased as the popularity of designer breeds and dogs with floppy ears has led to more ear problems.

A survey by the RSPCA suggests ear infections affect 7.3% of UK dogs. Breeds particularly prone to issues include poodles and poodle crosses such as cockapoos and cavapoos, spaniels, Labradors, dachshunds and basset hounds.

The Soothing Ear Cleaner is formulated with gentian violet and boric acid to disinfect the ear canal, loosen wax and create an environment hostile to bacteria and fungi.

It is available in three sizes, with prices starting at £8.99. The product can be used for both acute infections and regular maintenance, and is suitable for dogs and small mammals including ferrets.

Peake, a pharmacist, said the formula was adapted from a longstanding Dutch product, developed further after she took over the brand.

Groomers and independent pet shops across the UK now stock the cleaner, with the company also supplying wholesalers and exporting to Europe, the US and Australia.

Peake Petcare donates products to animal rescue charities in the UK and overseas.

Tracey Peake, founder of Peake Petcare, said: “Our products solve problems and do what you bought them to do. They get rid of common ear issues whether chronic or acute and can be used occasionally as maintenance or regularly to eradicate issues.”
