Jollyes launches campaign to help pets stay cool
In addition to free washes, store staff have been refilling outdoor water bowls to ensure visiting dogs can stay hydrated

Jollyes is offering free dog washes every Wednesday through June and July as part of ‘Operation Cool Dog’, a campaign to help pets stay cool during hot weather.
The initiative, which launched on 24 June across 10 stores equipped with self-service dog-washing stations, allows dog owners to access the Wash and Go machines – normally priced at £5 – at no cost.
Stores offering the service include Bolton, Colchester, Enfield, Harlow, Newport (Isle of Wight), Plymouth, Scunthorpe, Selby, Totton and Waterlooville.
The pet retailer said it had seen sales of cooling products such as tents and sprinkler mats double over the past week, as temperatures rise across the UK.
Stores have increased stock levels of cooling accessories and treats, which Jollyes said were “highly effective and affordably priced”.
In addition to free washes, store staff have been refilling outdoor water bowls to ensure visiting dogs can stay hydrated. Shoppers are also being encouraged to create cool areas at home for their pets.
The company has also issued advice for dog owners during the heatwave, recommending early or late walks when temperatures are below 20C, access to shade and water at all times, and the use of cooling pads, treats and toys.
Other suggestions include grooming to prevent matted fur and identifying cool rooms with tiled floors or ventilation where pets can rest.
Phil Turner-Naylor, Jollyes marketing manager, said: “A-paw-llingly high temperatures are a real challenge for our four-legged friends – and keeping them cool and hydrated is vital.
“That’s why Operation Cool Dog is in place, helping the whole family – with two legs or four – keep cool and comfortable, without breaking the bank.”
