Non-stop dogwear has launched its new Dog Rescue Sling in partnership with Norwegian Rescue Dogs (Norske Redningshunder, NRH).

It said the Dog rescue sling was born out of real-world challenges faced by search and rescue teams. The NRH responds to 500 rescue operations every year which can be unpredictable, and even the most skilled search and rescue dogs face challenges such as injury, exhaustion.

With four leg openings, it distributes the dog’s weight evenly for a “balanced”, “ergonomic” carry. Its design allows owners to confidently carry dogs in front, on the side, or as a backpack, while the universal fit eliminates the problem of working out which side is the front or back side.

The Dog rescue sling features:

  • Duraflex buckles (bluesign approved) for reliable strength and sustainability
  • 3M™ reflective details for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions
  • High-visibility orange color for quick location in emergencies
  • Includes a breathable mesh storage bag for compact, easy packing
  • Available in sizes S to XL, to accommodate dogs of all shapes and breeds
  • Ultralight and compact – small enough to fit in a backpack or first aid kit

Originally designed for professional search and rescue teams, the Dog rescue sling is now available to veterinarians, dog trainers, outdoor professionals, and everyday pet owners who hike or run.

Jim Olav Hansen, general manager of NRH, said: “During one of our rescue missions, one of our handlers had to carry their dog after it was bitten by a poisonous snake. The conditions were harsh, and without a proper sling, they had no choice but to improvise, using a makeshift method to carry the dog on their shoulders.

“This was neither fast nor safe. This experience highlighted the need for a better solution, which is why we designed the rescue sling with Non-stop dogwear for fast, secure transport, ensuring that both the dog and handler can return to safety as quickly and safely as possible.”

He added: “We rigorously tested the rescue sling to withstand extreme conditions, ensuring it offers stability, comfort, and ease of use for our handlers in any situation. Today, every dog handler in the NRH carries a rescue sling so they have a reliable and efficient way to transport an injured dog, ensuring no dog is left behind.”
