The global market for pet probiotics is set to be worth up to $7.1bn (£6.3bn) by 2031, according to data from Nestle Purina.

Alongside this, the data from Nestle Purina found that the market was worth $4.4bn (£3.6bn) in 2023.

Pet probiotics are supplements containing live beneficial bacteria that promote gut health and overall well-being in pets.

In October 2024, Clasado Biosciences introduced Bimuno Pet, a prebiotic solution crafted to support digestive health in pets.

This product is designed to enhance the gut microbiome, promoting overall well-being and improving the digestive system of pets.

This time last year startup company Tuggs launched Europe’s first mealworm treat, Tuggs for Tummies, with added probiotics.

Tuggs for Tummies is manufactured using a freeze-dried process, with each bite containing added pre and probiotics to build up the microbiome and support overall digestive health.

Tuggs uses ingredients such as black soldier fly larvae in its pet food pouches and offers a subscription service of pre portioned meals,
