New pet treat brand, Bonkers, has officially hit UK shelves, created in collaboration with animal nutritionists.
With four different flavours available for cats, and three different flavours available for dogs, the recipes are made up of proteins and are free from wheat, soy, artificial colours and flavours.
The snacks are low in calories, with less than two calories per treat for cats and less than five calories for dogs.
Bonkers said that for new pet-parents, the balance has shifted from an emphasis on control over pets, to an emphasis on connection with pets.
The company added that it was created to recognise and reflect this new sensibility, and celebrate these connections, and the treats were created with palatability-for-pets and price-for-parents at the forefront.
Anna Tompkins, head of marketing at Bonkers, said: “Millennials and Gen Z are re-defining the owner-pet relationship: their pets are more humanised than ever, parented and pampered. No longer ‘just animals’, they are fur-babies, integral to the family.
“Pets bring so much joy to people’s lives, which is why our mantra is ‘better when it’s Bonkers!’ We want to help pet-parents celebrate the unique personalities of their pets, and we can’t wait for cats and dogs across the UK to try our delicious treats.”
