Sundown Products launches domestic poultry bedding and cat litter

Lloyd’s career in the equine and agricultural sector includes previous positions with Dodson and Horrell, NFU and NFU Mutual

Sundown Products has expanded its range of animal bedding into domestic poultry and pet cats, with two new products, Egg-e-bed, and Kitt-e-litter.
The Egg-e-bed is a finely-chopped wheat straw bedding for home-kept chickens, ducks and other domestic poultry, available as a 19kg plastic-wrapped bale.

Meanwhile, the Kitt-e-litter is a straw pellet cat litter, available in a 15kg plastic bag.

To support sales of Egg-e-bed, Kitt-e-litter and current equine bedding products, the Sundown team has been expanded with the appointment of Dianne Lloyd as area sales manager, northern region of England.

Rachel Cubitt, director, said: “The unique short shop length of Egg-e-bed makes it incredibly easy to use and encourages nesting and laying. Made from our premium wheat straw it’s soft and absorbent so can be used in both nest boxes and on the floor of the coop. It has very low dust levels and we add a eucalyptus fragrance to each bale, which our product testers told us they really liked and helps to reduce the ‘chickeny’ smell in the coop.

“Kitt-e-litter cat litter is a firm straw pellet, which is extremely absorbent and locks away urine and smells quickly. For cat owners who prefer a non-clumping litter but are environmentally conscious, Kitt-e-litter is the ideal choice. It’s made from sustainable British straw, much of which we source locally to our factory. Used Kitt-e-litter is also home-compostable and fully biodegradable.”

Diane added: “I’m really pleased to be joining the Sundown team at an exciting point in the development and expansion of the brand. I look forward to catching up with retailers over the coming months and discussing how we can help support their businesses in the future.”
