Meg Heath Dog Leads launches theft deterrent range

The No. 2 ‘Stealth’ lead’s handle is soft and features a variation of the ‘Don’t Let Go’! handle design unique to Meg Heath which may deter snatch attempts when used correctly

Meg Heath Dog Leads has announced the launch of a new theft deterrent range of leads which offers different levels of protection.

The No. 2 ‘Stealth’ lead has a galvanised 7×7 wire rope core in a soft webbing outer. The handle is soft and features a variation of the ‘Don’t Let Go’! handle design unique to Meg Heath which may deter snatch attempts when used correctly.

The company also announced that for every Theft Deterrent Dog Lead (Stealth No. 2) sold, the group will donate £1 to West Country Dobermann Rescue.

There are two choices of carabiner, a swivel carabiner and a barrel carabiner. Both are tricky to undo if you don’t know how.

The lead combines three concepts to deter a dog snatch, which includes a ‘Don’t Let Go!’ handle that can be tightened on your wrist, a choice of two carabiners which make it difficult to undo and the dog walking belt bundle which is a 25mm version of the Dog Walking Belt.

Sarah Gleave of Meg Heath Dog Leads, said: “Daily, there are reports of dog theft on Social Media and most recently horrifying reports of dogs being snatched from their owners while out on walks. I wanted to play a part in trying to help, so I came up with 3 designs, all with different deterrent/protection levels. Two are live and one is still in development.

“Personally, I have always been scared to death of dog theft and my dogs are never, ever left. It’s early days for the product, but the feedback so far has been positive.”
