Fish4Dogs supports charity dog shows

A series of dog shows in Staffordshire, supported by Fish4Dogs, has raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Midfield K9 Academy, run by Lynne Bakker-Collier, staged three events throughout the summer; June, August and September at its training grounds in Oulton, Stone.

Kennel Club registered judge Helen Fletcher managed each of the shows which had three different judges to assess competitors in pedigree, novelty and obedience classes. They were:

  • June – Lea Vaughan
  • August – Alan Milward
  • September – Joanne McLachlan

The mayor of Stafford Borough, councillor Gareth Jones, also attended the August show and presented the ‘Best in Show’ for the pedigree classes. In addition to the action in the show ring, there were ‘have a go’ agility sessions and scurry races which saw participants flying across the training field.

A total of £1020 was raised from the three shows which will be divided between three charities: Guide Dogs for the Blind UK, Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends and the lymphedema clinic at Katherine House Hospice.

Bakker-Collier said: “I want to thank everyone who gave up their time, donated prizes for the raffle, came along and took part and generally supported the dog shows.

“We’ve had lots of positive feedback from those who attended. They appreciated the rosettes, trophies and the goody bags from Fish4Dogs received rave reviews.”
